Biography

I am a clinical psychologist and licensed social worker with experience working with children and their families for over 15 years.  My background includes working with victims of child abuse and domestic violence, developmentally challenged children, children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism, Selective Mutism, Anxiety, Depression and or children who are exhibiting chronic behavioral problems.  I also have experience and provide Individual, Family and Couples Psychotherapy.

I got a BA in Psychology from Califonia State University, Northridge in 1995, a Master in Social Work in 1998, from California State University, Long Beach and Doctor of Psychology degree in Clinical Pschology in 2004 from Ryokan College.  Since then, I have been working towards my mission of teaching, supporting and inspiring growth in relationships.  As a result, I became involved in finding specific ways to enhance parents/caretakers and children’s relationships creating Calm+Connect=Change Parenting (Triple C Parenting).

Training

I received training at the Child and Family Guidance Center and continued my professional development at Children’s Hospital, Los Angeles (CHLA) where I continued with the specialty in Parent-Chid Interaction Therapy (PCIT), a play therapy approach that is designed to help both parents and children with the quality of their relationships in order to provide a nurturing home for their children. At Bienvenidos I had the opportunity to get trained and become certified as a therapist and as a supervisor on Trauma Focus Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT) and Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP).
